Tampere set a new record – Over one million overnight stays in 2015

Tampere broke standing tourism records, registering over one million overnight stays in 2015.

More than half of visitors – 55 percent – went to Tampere for leisure travel.

Being ranked as top tourism city by Finns, most of the overnight visits were made by local tourists, whose numbers grew by 7.7 percent compared to 2014. The number of foreign visitors who stayed in the city declined slightly.

The biggest foreign tourist groups came from Germany, Sweden, Britain and Russia. In spite of the overall decrease in overnight stays by foreign travelers, visits by Germans grew 24 percent.
