The Tampere Region is a vivid area with almost 500.000 people including 38.000 university students. Year after year, Tampere has been voted as the most attractive city in Finland by the people and companies (Taloustutkimus). That is because all the pieces fall into place in the region. Just a few reasons to mention: The Tampere Region has an optimal logistic location in Finland, availability of competent workforce and it is a growth center with a reasonable cost level.
The Tampere Region has almost 50 years of history and cumulated competence in information and communication technology. The first “smart phone” Nokia 9000 Communicator and the revolutionary 41-megapixel camera phone Nokia 808 PureView are just a few examples of mobile innovations born in Tampere region. ICT sector alone employs over 10 000 people and half of these are working in the mobile cluster where companies like Nokia, NSN and Intel play a significant role in the region.
The Tampere Region is also a pioneer in developing and utilizing new information and communication technologies in different industries e.g. intelligent machines and intelligent traffic systems.
