STREAM CONNECT is a series of startup-investor matchmaking and networking events organised by Platform6 and open to all startups in Tampere.

The entrepreneurial landscape of 2024 is set to be distinctly different from previous years. The challenging climate of 2023 marks the end of the “lifestyle entrepreneur” era, giving rise to business builders who are resilient, commercially savvy, and deeply understanding of the market. Success in 2024 will hinge on startups’ ability to efficiently manage resources and establish reliable income streams.

In the VC sector, 2024 will witness significant changes as well. A surplus of unallocated capital (dry powder) will intensify competition among investors to find viable deals, potentially leading to more cautious investment in existing portfolio companies and a focus on new opportunities. This period will also see a recovery in VC fundraising, albeit not to the levels of 2020 and 2021. A key development will be the influx of new fund managers who are anticipated to bring fresh energy and perspective, benefiting founders and creating competitive dynamics that challenge established investors to elevate their game.
