XYZ Masterclass: Emerging Talents Navigating the Transformed Industry 26th of September

This masterclass will focus on navigating the changing landscape of the film industry following COVID, two strikes, and the emergence of artificial intelligence. 

How can small to mid-size independent films compete with a crowded marketplace, social media, and tentpole studio movies based on massive IP? How can young filmmakers tackle the growing presence and broadening capabilities of AI?

The masterclass is hosted by Fanny Heinonen from Film Tampere and moderated by Aram Tertzakian from XYZ Films. The masterclass is brought to you by Business Tampere / Film Tampere.

Erna is a producer and creative developer shaping concepts for global TV and film. She is currently producing Blood & Sweat (Nousevan auringon varjot), a Japanese–Finnish co-production series.

EMMANUEL ECKERT, Producer, France

Emmanuel brings nearly 30 years of experience as a buyer, producer, and distributor for companies like M6, Newen, Lagardère, and Mediawan. He’s worked on shows like XIII, Largo Winch, and Highlander, and acquired series for Europe, Canada, and Africa. Passionate about content and connections, he enjoys developing projects, building networks, and securing financing.

CLAIRE WILLATS, Executive, UK

With years of experience in the film industry, Claire Willats is a seasoned executive with expertise in film distribution, acquisitions, and production. Formerly a commissioner at Netflix and a jury member for the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) for three consecutive years. Claire has also served as a mentor at the London Film School. Currently she’s focusing on producing impactful stories for the screen.
