This your unique opportunity to work directly with World Food Program by responding on their call for digital innovations.

Unfortunately this event is postponed until further notice because we received an update that the Philippines country office government partners have decided to develop the digital solutions internally while utilizing their own local capacity in prior to external collaboration. Apologies for any inconvenience.

The World Food Program (WFP) is the food assistance branch of the United Nations and the world’s largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and food security.

It provides emergency food aid in crisis situations and supports long-term development by improving nutrition and building resilience in vulnerable communities. WFP operates in over 120 countries and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020 for its efforts to combat hunger and promote peace in conflict-affected areas.

Together with WFP, Finnpartnership and INGOs -project consortium (Business Tampere, RISE Sweden, Tallinn Tehnopol and IT Cluster Latvia), we are bringing four concrete challenges available. For these challenges, World Food Program is now looking a partner to pilot new innovative solutions. Target country for piloting is Philippines. For companies this is a good opportunity to create awareness and build references working with UN entities that can open the larger scale doors in the future.

Open innovation challenges are following:
1. Connectivity on disaster-stricken areas
2. Warehouse Management System
3. GPS Tracking for Relief Trucks
4. Manual Disaster Preparedness Processes

To review more information about the problem-solution statement for each of the challenges please click the registration link.

Briefly about the process, it is explained more detailed in the webinar:

  • On 24h April we host an info webinar, where these solutions are more detailed presented by WFP representatives and there is also possibility for Q&A.
  • Before Webinar, each company need to provide 1-2 slides that are shared among all webinar participants. The slides introduce very briefly you and what you do. Material need so be submitted by email by 20.4. to sami.puttonen@businesstampere.com
  • After the webinar there are two weeks for companies either independently or together with other company submit their suggestions to WFP how to respond on their need.
  • WPF will make the selection of solution(s) they want to pilot with, and company will get signed Letter of Intent / MoU with WFP.
  • Selected companies have possibility to receive some funding from INGOs -project to cover their travel expenses / buy some external expertise.
  • Finnish companies can apply funding from Finnpartnership. Note that Estonian, Latvian or Swedish companies can’t be direct beneficiaries of Finnpartnership financing, but hey can be part of project consortium as the role of a service provider.
  • Selected companies agree with piloting schedule with WFP and start the implementation

The event and related activites are made possible via Interreg Central Baltic -program Export to International NGOs (INGOs)
