Where are you from?
I was born in Argentina, moved to Spain with nine years and came to Finland in 2015. I’ve been an immigrant the most of my life, but I can honestly say I’ve always felt at home.
What would you like to tell about yourself?
I’m a curious explorer and a communicator who’s passionate about telling stories, imagining new worlds and possibilities. The imagination is a powerful gift, which guides us to achieve even the most unlikely things. I studied Journalism in Barcelona, so since 2006 I’ve been writing articles, reports and scripts, and making videos.
What makes Tampere special for you?
The first time I came to Finland looking for a job was very hard. The time went by and it seemed like I wouldn’t have any chance to work, especially as a journalist. My work is based on language but I spoke just a few words of Finnish. Two weeks before the departure day to get back to Barcelona, Aamulehti, the main newspaper in Tampere, contacted me to do a video series on its website. It was a project created for me, a dream come true. I could even speak in Spanish. The series turned out to be a success and now, after two years and a half, we’ve already made more than 100 episodes. By shooting, interviewing and acting in Tampere, I’ve been able to know many people, lots of charming places (urban and natural environments) and innovative companies. As Tampere ambassador, I’m honoured to keep working in this lovely city. The dream has not finished.
Tell about your professional activities?
Besides my work in the series as scriptwriter and presenter, I make videos for Aamulehti in occasional events, giving my opinion as a Spanish journalist. I also do correspondent jobs or collaboration with other media. I´m invited to present events and shows alongside visiting schools and institutes as a native Spanish speaker.
What is your involvement in international activities?
I’ve done the most of the episodes of the series “Eric Suomessa” in Tampere, but also some in Barcelona. The series has become not only a bridge between the Spanish and Finnish cultures, but also useful for any foreigner to get to know life in Tampere and Finland.
What is your mission as a Tampere Ambassador?
To show Tampere as I see it: a beautiful place with nice and warm people, amazing nature and great opportunities to work and study. Without forgetting the best restaurants of hot wings and the best public saunas in Finland (I take a sauna a minimum of three times a week).
What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?
Tampere has talented people together with an open-minded culture of experimenting new things and investing in the future, incredible study and work opportunities and innovative companies. Moreover, the best combination of urban life with beautiful nature, which makes it a pleasant city to live. Tampere has everything to succeed. The only thing left is to make people know about it.
