Country of Residence

United Kingdom

Where are you from?
I’m originally from Romania. I was born in a small town called Moreni and after I finished high school, I moved to Bucharest to study Journalism and Philosophy. In 2013, I left my home country to go and pursue a better lifestyle in the UK. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made so far and the years I spent there contoured my personality a lot. Despite the wonderful experiences and opportunities presented my way, I felt something was missing in my life. One year later, I came to Finland for the first time to spend a short winter holiday here. I was completely mesmerized by the raw nature and the simplicity of Finnish lifestyle. I remember crying in the airport on my way back to England. It was then when I realized I left my heart in the land of a thousand lakes. So a few months later, I quit my job, bought a one-way flight ticket and returned to Finland to live my wildest dreams.

What would you like to tell about yourself?
I’m an energetic and action-orientated individual and I put a lot of passion and hard work in everything I do. I live my life ruled by courage and kindness. I always try to see the good in every person who crosses my path before I go ahead and formulate an opinion.

Living abroad taught me to be flexible and quickly adapt to different and new situations. To take risks and challenge myself whenever possible.

One of my dreams is to inspire people to be brave enough to listen to their inner calling and go for what sets their hearts on fire.

I strongly believe the extraordinary in our lives takes place when we dare to live outside our comfort zones. Average is not my thing.

What makes Tampere special for you?
The greatest thing that happened to me while living in Tampere was connecting with my creative side and being able to express it through my work and different types of activities. Which means I’ll always regard the city as a special place and hold it close to my heart.

Tampere is a unique blend of a big city life and countryside. It’s well-balanced and has a lot to offer in terms of study possibilities, business prospects, multicultural events, family activities and a wide range of attractions for single people also. People here are friendly, positive and easy to interact with. I like the fact that most of them are very active and lead a healthy lifestyle. It’s contagious and inspires you to make positive changes to yours.

Tell about your professional activities?
I’m currently working at Tampere University of Applied Sciences as a Communicator and I’m also a Copy Editor at Pitch Nordic Music Magazine in my free time. I have a degree in Journalism and a solid background in Sales and Customer Support. Nonetheless, creative writing and communication are my top skills. Meeting interesting people and being able to tell their stories through my articles brings me a huge satisfaction. I’m a people person and that’s reflected in my actions and work.

What is your involvement in international activities?
Before starting work at Tampere University of Applied Sciences, I was a volunteer for Mindtrek Openmind 2015 and later on, for Twinkle 2015. Those two events offered me a great opportunity to meet international talents and expand my network of contacts.

Presently, I assist international marketing campaigns at TAMK, organize activities for international students and encourage former students to share their experiences on living and studying in Tampere.

What is your mission as a Tampere  Ambassador?
My mission as a Tampere Ambassador is to introduce you to the beautiful city of Tampere and guide you closely in discovering its key qualities. As you find you way around, I want you to know you can rely upon my personal integration process and shared advice to build your own successful story of living in Tampere.

What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?
Tampere is a modern city with a huge potential to become even greater. Its abundance of skilled and talented people is the best reason for companies to explore and invest more in the available resources here. For students, is the perfect place to achieve their education goals and take advantage of the numerous opportunities and internships in different industries. The city is quickly developing in many areas and my hope is that locals, internationals and organizations will closely cooperate in building an exceptional future for the upcoming generations.

The future looks bright for Tampere and I want to be a part of it!
