Where are you from?
I am from Poprad, a small town in the norther part of Slovakia. I am currently living in the capital city of Slovakia, Bratislava.
What would you like to tell about yourself?
I am an advocate of internationalism – I believe greater cooperation among nations and people can generate better sustainability, growth and development. I graduated in International Relations and European Studies from the Metropolitan University Prague and I hold a Master´s Degree from King´s College London. I am (or I believe people consider me to be) reliable, very adaptable, enthusiastic and ready to face new challenges. I enjoy working in an international environment and what I like so much is traveling and discovering new cultures.
What makes Tampere special for you?
An exchange stay in Tampere was one of my first international experiences, which allowed me to meet new people, who have become my lifetime friends. The fact that I was able to live by a lake, to see beautiful nature and aurora borealis, to experience the Finnish sauna culture and to swim in an almost frozen lake, it all made me to fall in love with Tampere. I have travelled and lived in several countries, but I have not had the opportunity to experience what Tampere has to offer – a perfect combination of a truly friendly city with amazing environment, kind people, great educational facilities and lots of opportunities for everyone. This is what makes it so special for me.
Tell about your professional activities?
I am currently working as a main state advisor at the Foreign Coordination Department of the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. I previously worked for the United Nations, Office of the Slovak Government, as well as the European Union and a local NGO.
What is your involvement in international activities?
I consider myself to be internationally-oriented. I studied in four different countries and worked in various locations across Europe. I am part of an alumni network both at the Metropolitan University in Prague and at the King´s College London. Moreover, my current job makes me to be part of an international environment as well. I am interacting with various experts, practitioners and other stakeholders and we are all working to ensure that sustainable development will be achieved globally and better opportunities for talented people will be provided.
What is your mission as a Tampere Ambassador?
My mission is to discover opportunities in the Tampere region and to connect interested people from Tampere with my network. Moreover, I would also strive to promote Tampere as a great place to study, live, and invest in, both in my home country, as well as abroad in order to help it to expand and generate new business ideas.
What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?
I see Tampere as a city which will continue generating new education and business opportunities for people from abroad. Its universities and high-tech power will be on the rise and will attract new students and investors to come to the region. Tampere has everything a wealthy city should have – beautiful nature, excellent educational facilities, friendly and hard-working people and well-functioning companies that are ready to expand. This needs to be promoted.
