Business angels are private individuals who invest their own capital in startups and growth companies with high growth potential. In return for their investment, business angels typically receive an ownership stake in the company.
In addition to funding, business angel investments can provide companies with valuable expertise, industry knowledge and networks. Angel investments typically range from approximately EUR 5,000 to EUR 600,000.
For more information and guidance on seeking angel investment, visit FiBAN – Finnish Business Angels Network.
Venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE) refer to investments in privately held companies with strong growth and development potential. Investors typically make investments through funds that they manage. Some investors also invest directly from their own balance sheets or using the assets of a parent company.
For more information and a list of Finnish private equity and venture capital investors, visit the Finnish Venture Capital Association (FVCA).
Crowdfunding is a method of raising funding online from a large number of individuals or investors. A crowdfunding campaign allows individuals to contribute relatively small amounts towards financing a company, product or project. Funding rounds may, for example, range from approximately EUR 5,000 to EUR 250,000.
In addition to raising capital, crowdfunding can be an effective way to test and demonstrate market demand for a new product, for example through a pre-sales campaign.
