Tampere Region Health Companies Step Up Cooperation with Ukraine

A group of experts from the UNBROKEN hospital and rehabilitation centre in Lviv is currently visiting Tampere to explore health-sector companies and solutions in the region.

The Ukrainian delegation from Unbroken is looking for new solutions to meet the growing rehabilitation needs caused by the war. During the three-day visit, the group will also visit Tampere University Hospital and Tampere University of Applied Sciences, learn about accessibility solutions in public buildings, and visit the Finnish Deafblind Association’s Activity Centre in Hervanta.

A key focus of the visit is on solutions offered by companies in the Tampere City Region that could respond to concrete needs in Ukraine.

“This cooperation with UNBROKEN offers us a unique opportunity to showcase the expertise of our region and the solutions developed by our companies. Around 15 companies are now presenting their services or products to the Ukrainian delegation. Alongside the treatment of physical injuries, there is also a major need for mental health care in Ukraine,” says Timo Hänninen, who is responsible for the health sector at Business Tampere.

UNBROKEN is a Ukrainian hospital and rehabilitation centre that plays a significant role in rehabilitating people affected by the war.

The Tampere Region’s active cooperation with Ukraine has also been covered by Finnish media, including Yle and Aamulehti.

Brain injuries caused by the war pose a major challenge in Ukraine. In Lviv, new rehabilitation methods are now being developed, with Tampere University of Applied Sciences among the organisations involved in the related research.

Companies can also learn more about internationalisation and export opportunities beyond Ukraine at Business Tampere’s Internationalisation Mornings, held in October in different parts of the Tampere City Region.

The next events aimed at accelerating companies’ international growth and exports will take place on 7 October in Pirkkala and 8 October in Nokia.
