Finnair will resume scheduled flights between Tampere-Pirkkala Airport and Helsinki Airport on Sunday, 25 October 2026. The daily flights will reconnect Tampere to Finnair’s international route network.

Finnair will operate two daily flights from Tampere to Helsinki Airport. The morning flight will primarily serve passengers connecting to European destinations, while the midday flight will connect Tampere to Finnair’s international departures in the afternoon and early evening. A late-evening flight from Helsinki to Tampere will allow the aircraft to remain overnight in Tampere.

The significance of this connection for the Tampere region extends far beyond the route to Helsinki Airport. Through Finnair’s international network, the region will gain new travel options to destinations around the world.

International connectivity supports the regional business community

The Tampere region is an international hub for industry, technology and expertise, with businesses relying on extensive international networks. Reliable air connections facilitate travel for company employees, customers and partners, while also supporting tourism and international cooperation in the region.

“Finnair’s return is very welcome news for us. What matters most is not simply that flights from Tampere to Helsinki are available again, but that Finnair’s entire international route network is once again accessible via Tampere-Pirkkala Airport. This provides more travel options for both passengers departing from and arriving in the region,” says Marja Aalto, Aviation Specialist at Business Tampere.

Finnair’s return is also an important addition to the Tampere region’s long-term efforts to develop air connectivity. The region aims to strengthen its international connections both through major aviation hubs and via direct international routes.

“Developing air connectivity requires long-term commitment and involves aligning regional demand, airline networks and the economic viability of routes. Finnair’s return is an important step in this process. It is now equally important that travellers in the region discover the new connection and start using it,” Aalto adds.
