The IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP) 2026 will bring together more than 1,000 researchers, technology experts and industry leaders from around the world at Tampere Hall in Tampere on 13–17 September. Held in Tampere for the first time, the ICIP conference will showcase the latest technologies used in smartphones, medical imaging systems, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, immersive media and AI-powered visual applications, among others. Video ICIP is one of the world’s leading events in image processing and imaging, bringing together scientific excellence and industry innovation under one roof. The conference addresses current challenges and methods in image processing and explores opportunities offered by AI, among other topics. The event connects researchers and technology companies, helping new ideas and innovations move from laboratories to the market. The conference’s keynote speakers include internationally renowned experts in computational imaging, machine learning and inverse problems. Its diverse industry programme features opening talks, panel discussions, workshops, technology demonstrations and exhibits by major technology companies. Tampere’s selection as the conference’s host city also reflects the strength of its imaging ecosystem Tampere is internationally recognised as a hub of imaging expertise, bringing together Tampere University and more than 25 companies working in mobile imaging, machine vision, computational photography and immersive technology. “ICIP 2026 offers a unique opportunity to showcase Tampere’s position as one of the world’s leading centres for imaging education, research and innovation. We are proud to welcome the international imaging community to Tampere,” says Atanas Gotchev of Tampere University, Chair of the IEEE ICIP 2026 Organising Committee. “Tampere was selected as the host city partly because of the close collaboration between the university, companies and public organisations such as Business Tampere. This collaboration has helped Tampere develop into an internationally recognised hub of expertise in imaging and camera technology,” says Oliver Hussey, Director of Foreign Direct Investment at Business Tampere.
