Mika Kulkas started as Key Account Executive, Dual-use at Business Tampere at the beginning of 2025. Kulkas most recently served as the Commander of the Air Operations Center in Tikkakoski at the Finnish Air Force Headquarters, and prior to that, as the Commander of Satakunta Air Wing in Pirkkala. He transitioned to the reserve from the Finnish Defence Forces on December 31, 2024. Kulkas has extensive experience in defense system development, operational duties within the Finnish Defence Forces, as well as international cooperation and R&D activities. He has played a significant role in the development of Finland’s air and missile defense and the execution of the HX fighter program, which led to the selection of the F-35 multi-role fighter. In his new role, Kulkas will focus on identifying new opportunities and supporting the operational conditions, growth, and internationalization of the region’s defense industry. “The defense industry cluster in Pirkanmaa is one of the leading in Finland.
