The Tampere Region has top-grade expertise, companies and research on all key technologies needed to develop the future of automotive industry The fields of expertise in the region cover eg. digital cockpit, autonomous driving, ADAS, automotive software, connected car, data analytics and AI, embedded cyber security, imaging and camera technologies, electronics and sensors, charging systems, and more.
In the Tampere Region, the glue between the companies providing intelligent solutions and services to automotive OEMs and Tier1 providers, is the Tampere Automotive Cluster. It brings together more than 100 high-tech companies, academic and research institutes as one of the top automotive hubs in Finland. The mission of a regional cluster is to find new opportunities for business, R&D partnerships and investments.
Tampere Automotive Cluster was established in 2018 and has grown significantly ever since. The activities include regular meetups locally, networking opportunities with automotive operators and joint attendance in selected international automotive events. The regional economic development agency Business Tampere is coordinating the cluster activities.

Just recently we had an excellent introduction and matchmaking event with Kaira Clan and CEVT. Kaira Clan is one of the many stakeholders Tampere Automotive Cluster is partnering with in order to generate value and find opportunities to its members. Kaira Clan is a group of innovation consultants specializing in the designing, operating, and management of innovation centers as well as technology scouting, POC validation, and innovation accelerator programs. Originally from Oulu, the company has recently moved its headquarters to Tampere.
Kaira Clan scouts businesses with new technologies and solutions for the automotive industry, currently businesses with innovations beyond the most obvious sectors are in their radar, health and well-being solutions as an example.
- Tampere Automotive Cluster has introduced us to some amazing companies in the Tampere Region, and we’re looking forward to future collaboration with them. In addition, we are currently scanning companies who might not see themselves in the automotive industry yet, but with the right, innovative mindset and collaboration they could find a place there, says Harri Paadar, Innovation Program Manager, Kaira Clan.
In September 2021, Kaira Clan announced a joint collaboration with CEVT (China Euro Vehicle Technology AB), and the company works as a CEVT’s representative in Finland. CEVT has been active in the Finnish startup ecosystem the past few years.
- As the facilitator of the CEVT’s Innovation Hub in Finland, our goal is to offer to the Finnish startups and innovation research companies a clear path to productise their solutions in the automotive industry, says Tero Blomqvist, CEO, Kaira Clan.
