The Tampere Smart City Week Expo & Conference and the ICT trade fair DigITre were held on 14-15 June 2022 at Nokia Arena. The event brought together nearly 2,700 visitors to learn about the latest innovations of smart city development as well as smartest ICT systems, both on-site and online. 28 different nationalities from all over the world were represented at the event.

The organizers of the event, the City of Tampere, Business Tampere and the Tampere Trade Fairs Group, are grateful for the good feedback received by the new event. The atmosphere was especially raised by encounters with others for a long time.

    - It has been great to see how representatives of companies around the world meet and find the basis for their cooperation in Tampere, a leading city in Finnish smart city development. We already have a strong culture of working together here. The long-term effects will be seen later, but we can already say that the cooperation between the companies that started at the event will also bring a lot of good to the Tampere Region. This is just the beginning, says Markku Niemi, Business Tampere's Director of Smart City Development.

The City of Tampere and Business Tampere will invite all companies to participate in the implementation of the Smart City for Citizens development program in the coming years. Read more about the program: https://businesstampere.com/towards-smart-open-and-dynamic-tampere/

Swappie.fi was awarded the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Winner award on Tuesday. Architect and winner of the Global Impact competition Anni Laurila gave a keynote speech on forward-looking construction and the future of work and learning on Wednesday.

During the event, the Arctic15 x Tampere start-up event was held. The speakers included for example Peter Vesterbacka, the founder of Rovio and Finest Bay Area. Silicon Vikings launched the New Nordics Pitch Competition in Finland at the event, the final of which will be competed in Slush in November.

Smart city development and ICT will meet again next year

DigITre and Tampere Smart City Week will also be held next year, in June 2023 at Nokia Arena. A more specific date will be announced later.

    - The event must be summed up in a high quality manner and the gaze and stakes for the coming year must be set. We believe that next summer's DigITre and Tampere Smart City Week will once again offer something revolutionary, and for our part we always promise to focus on development, change and innovate solutions to make the event an annual diamond as well! Many thanks to all our partners this year, the events are done together, sums up the event manager Sami Siurola from Tampere Trade Fairs Group.

The main organizer of Tampere Smart City Week is the City of Tampere in cooperation with Business Tampere. DigITre is an event of the Tampere Fair Group, which is organized in cooperation with the Tampere Smart City Week conference and Expo. The Tampereen Messut Group will produce the TSCW Expo & Conference and the DigITre event for the City of Tampere.
