Kempower, a leading rapid charging technology provider, has established a new research and development center at Finland’s Tampere University Campus. The company will initially recruit 15 research and development professionals to work at the facility.

With headquarters and production facilities in the Finnish city of Lahti, Kempower develops rapid EV charging technology for electric cars, buses, off-highway vehicles, and marine vessels. The company’s product development and production are rooted in Finland.

“We believe that collaborating with academia and researchers is vital, and we want to work closely with technology-focused universities and polytechnics. Our goal is to identify the most promising students during their studies and embed them in the Kempower culture by offering internships or thesis opportunities. We hope that the fast-evolving charging technology industry becomes familiar to students at Tampere University Campus and that they follow the development of e-mobility and the skills required to succeed in this market,” said Tomi Ristimäki, CEO, Kempower.

“Close cooperation with universities helps us to stay ahead of the curve as our business quickly scales and expands into new countries. The study fields of Tampere University’s faculty of Technology and Natural Sciences open interesting opportunities for collaboration and recruitment,” Ristimäki continued.

Tampere's industrial ecosystem is strengthened by the fast-growing Kempower, which is opened an r&d center in Tampere - the heart of the manufacturing industry, said Jouni Myllymäki, Senior Business Advisor from Business Tampere that has helped the company locate in the city.

At the same time, Kempower will join the Tampere Automotive Cluster and strengthen the region's profile as a key development and competence center for the automotive industry, adds Ari Lylynoja, Business Tampere's Senior Business Advisor.
