AI Hub Tampere: Human-Machine Interaction Workshop

Welcome to AI Hub Tampere’s workshop on Friday 13th December 2019! The theme is Human-Machine Interaction, which covers many aspects regarding human safety, trust and wellbeing around machines. UX design and social robotics stand at the cross-section of human, design and technology.

In this workshop, you will see demos and features running on Nao, Pepper and Franka Panda robots, and you get to participate in practical hands-on robotics UX design tasks.

Our hosts this time will be Assistant Professor Roel Pieters, University Lecturer Aino Ahtinen, and Professor Kaisa Väänänen.

9-9:15 Coffee and networking
9:15-10:00 Welcome + Introductions by Roel  Pieters (Human-Machine Interaction), Kaisa Väänänen (Human-Centered AI); RoboReel Tampere Project
10:00-10:05 Nao-based robotic exercise, by Nao & Aino Ahtinen
10:05-10:15 Intro to hands-on team work
10:15-11:00 Hands-on task 1: Experience Human-Robot Interaction
Demos (Affective Nao, Franka Panda, Pepper for speech interaction)
11:00-12:00 Hands-on task 2: Design Human-Robot Interaction!
UX design task
12:00-12:15 Short wrap-up, closing of workshop

Our funders would like to limit the access to this workshop to companies active in the Pirkanmaa region, which is why the workshop is not open for students or municipal workers.
