Tampere Aviation Forum

Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is the runway for industrial growth in the Tampere Region.

Industrial competitiveness is built on smooth connections. Export companies depend on fast and reliable logistics, and regional airports play a decisive role in this development. The importance of Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is growing as spare parts logistics, air cargo, and feeder traffic become integrated into international supply chains. People and goods must move seamlessly.

The Tampere Aviation Forum, held alongside the Subcontracting Fair (Alihankinta 2025) brings aviation experts into Finland’s largest industrial event for the first time. On October 1, the forum explores how aviation supports industry’s needs and how Tampere-Pirkkala can grow as a key runway for logistics and feeder traffic.

The future of aviation, from Tampere to Europe

What role will regional airports play in Europe’s air traffic? At the Tampere Aviation Forum, Mantas Vrubliauskas (airBaltic) will outline how regional connections drive accessibility and why airBaltic is strengthening its presence in Finland.

Why does air traffic development matter for Tampere? Dr. Max Hirsh (Airport City Academy) The keynote will examine new international trends in aviation and the opportunities they create for Tampere and the surrounding region. The presentation highlights the importance of regional airports for economic development and business, while also addressing how climate change and new technologies are reshaping future workforce needs. Finally, it explores how upcoming development projects at Tampere-Pirkkala Airport can be leveraged to strengthen the region.

In the afternoon, Aivars Starikovs (Hydrogen Europe) will take the audience inside Europe’s hydrogen economy and new fuel solutions that are transforming both passenger travel and logistics.
