    Business Tampere and the City of Tampere participate in the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona

    Business Tampere and the City of Tampere are participating in Smart City Expo World Congress, which is the world's largest conference on smart city development. The event will take place in Barcelona from 16th to 18th November 2021. Tampere's main topics at the fair are the Smart Tampere development program with its diverse projects. Also, the companies in the Tampere metropolitan area that offer smart city solutions are presented. The Tampere stand is a part of the Nordic Pavilion, located at Pavilion hall 2, level 0, stand D 122.

    New test platforms on display

    Tampere currently has a wide range of activities in the field of smart city development. For example, the Tampere automatic traffic test area in Hervanta is on display at the fair. The test area enables a wide range of experiments on automatic traffic and the test area, which is among the real traffic, is unique in the world. Smart City Expo World Congress will also present the Tampere Urban Mobility Services (TURMS) living lab, which is a unique test platform for public transport. In practice, TURMS is a living lab running on trams. In the future, the TURMS trolley will be able to test a wide range of services that improve tram travel, such as visitor counting, safety factors and new lighting solutions.

    Companies and projects are also involved

    The Tampere stand will also present projects that have started within the framework of the Smart Tampere development program: the Smart Urban Security and Event Resilience (SURE) project and the STARDUST project.

    Tampere region based companies presented on stand are Geniem Oy, KnowUrBiz Oy Profirator Oy and Sitowise Oy.
