JETSKIR

Just Environmental Transition and Skill building in Industrial Regions – project aims to facilitate a just transition of industrial regions, balancing ecology, competitiveness and social issues, while engaging all stakeholders.

Project description

Project timeline: 1.5.2025-31.7.2029

JETSKIR aims to facilitate a just transition of industrial regions, balancing ecology, competitiveness and social issues, while engaging all stakeholders. It seeks to exchange experiences among partner city regions on organizing this transition integratively. The project fosters integrated, just, and sustainable policies to equip industrial regions with the right skills and knowledge to excel in their industrial transition

From Finland to Montenegro, and from Albania to Spain, industrial regions need to organize three interrelated transitions:

  1. Labour market transition (retraining the workforce)
  2. Circular transition (saving resources)
  3. Energy transition (towards renewables)

Policies and skills need to be adjusted and advanced to allow for a holistic approach in this triple transition.

Expected results

As a result of JETSKIR, industrial regions will strengthen their capacity to plan and implement a just and sustainable transition. Public authorities and associated business networks will enhance their skills and strategic capabilities, enabling them to better anticipate and manage the impacts of industrial change.

The project is expected to:

  • advance energy, labour market, and circular economy transitions in a coherent and integrated manner
  • improve stakeholder engagement in policy development and support the identification of skills needed for a just and future-ready economy
  • strengthen policy frameworks and institutional capacities to enable bold, transformative, and long-term actions

In the long term, JETSKIR contributes to a socially fair, environmentally sustainable, and economically resilient industrial transition across European regions.
