Transport and logistics

Business Tampere is developing the international accessibility of the Pirkanmaa region. The goal is to ensure smooth and easy access to and from Tampere by air and through other modes of transport.

International access Tampere programme

The programme focuses on opening new flight routes, strengthening existing connections, and developing road and rail transport infrastructure. As a result, passenger volumes at Tampere Airport increase, and the region’s international attractiveness grows.

The programme also supports the development of air cargo services and logistics in the airport area.

From Tampere to Europe and beyond

Tampere-Pirkkala Airport offers direct access to Europe and, via airBaltic’s extensive route network, to the rest of the world. Business Tampere works in collaboration with airlines and other stakeholders to ensure the continuity of existing connections and to develop new routes that meet the needs of the region.

AirBaltic’s fourth home base, located in Tampere, strengthens smooth feeder traffic to key European hubs and enhances the accessibility of the entire route network. The airport’s connections and services are designed to serve both leisure and business travel. Air connectivity plays a vital role in supporting the region’s economy, international cooperation, and the growth of leisure travel.

Travel Chains

Developing travel chains improves Tampere’s accessibility as part of the international transport network. The goal is smooth and seamless travel that combines various modes of transportation: air and passenger traffic, as well as train and bus connections.

The accessibility of Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is being enhanced by developing international travel chains, improving access by road and rail, and strengthening the efficiency of connecting transport. The aim is to make traveling and coordinating schedules easy and convenient.

Regional and International Marketing

The marketing of the program supports the utilization of flight connections and strengthens the visibility of the Tampere region among tourists, business travelers, and event organizers, both domestically and internationally.

Collaboration with regional stakeholders is a key part of the work, as are partnerships with airlines, which include communication and joint marketing efforts. Visibility is built through multichannel campaigns, events, international networks, and social media communication.

Air Cargo and Logistics

We are developing the area around Tampere-Pirkkala Airport into a strong logistics hub. The Accessibility Program promotes the establishment of international operators in the vicinity of the airport.

The goal is to create a versatile logistics area around the airport that supports the growth of both passenger and cargo traffic.

Key focus areas also include attracting new cargo operators, maintaining close cooperation with Finavia and logistics companies, and developing the operating environment in a long-term and sustainable way to meet the needs of international freight carriers.
