Where are you from?
I am from Columbia, Maryland, USA.
What would you like to tell about yourself?
I love learning about human history. I am absolutely nuts about social history museums and can revisit them over and over and over again. Tampere and Finland have an amazing history. I want to see their stories told to many more people. I also delight in discovering the similarities and differences between ethnic groups, often on opposite sides of the globe.
Why is Tampere the best place to live?
Tampere is the best place to work and live because it offers so much variety. The city offers employment in virtually every sector, IT, hospitality, education, health care, cottage industry, and manufacturing, just to name a few. There are parks (Pyynikki, Hatanpään arboretum), an amusement park (Särkänniemi), shopping, health food stores, health center, university, restaurants, grocery stores, as well as urban living close by and in city center. Additionally, Tampere offers suburban living, such as Liehlahti.
Tell about your professional activities?
I am a teacher of English as a second language, as well as a social worker specializing in social work and business in an international and inter-ethnic perspective, program development and evaluation. I currently volunteer long distance as program manager of mediation for the Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy in Arlington, Virginia, USA. Additionally, I am a member of SIETAR Europa. I work in occupational social work, organizational development and community relations, more specifically, facilitating integration of minority groups into work places and communities through employee engagement, wellness, conflict mediation and cross cultural communication. I have also trained business staff in effective communication.
After completing my integration plan here in Finland, I plan to develop my own mediation practice to support businesses, communities and individuals in the area.

As an Ambassador, I hope to open the minds of individuals, businesses and communities to the benefits of cross cultural exchanges. I will work toward cultural and business exchange and education between the USA and Finland, as well as promoting Tampere – All Bright!
I offer my areas of expertise to Tampere.
What potential do you see for Tampere in the future?
Tampere has the potential to be an outstanding example of Finland’s economic come-back. Not only can the city maintain but as well increase the number of successful businesses and healthy, happy families in residence, offering unique job, educational and social opportunities.
